Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now secured the prestigious trophy on fourteen separate times.

Paris Saint-Germain required a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a successful spot-kick decider to overcome Marseille in the Gulf and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup victory.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a straightforward triumph in the match featuring the French league champions and the French Cup winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring in the opening stages.

However, Marseille struck twice late to seize a surprise lead. First, Mason Greenwood converted from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking twist of fortune, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a vital leveler in the dying seconds to send the contest into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, saving crucial kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all converted successfully for PSG to complete a convincing penalty victory.

Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the past thirteen seasons.
